YouTube celeb brand Chamberlain Coffee raises $7M for RTD expansion 

YouTube star Emma Chamberlain’s coffee brand, Chamberlain Coffee, secured $7 million in funding to help propel the company’s move into the dynamic and competitive ready-to-drink (RTD) market. Among other things, the capital will support Chamberlain’s recent launch of RTD cold-brew lattes. Existing investors included Blazar Capital, Emma Chamberlain and United Talent Agency; investors Volition Capital, Electric Feel Ventures, LA Libations and Noah Bremen contributed to the latest round.

Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes launches Throne Sport Coffee

The iced coffee marketplace has a new competitor, with the launch of Throne SPORT COFFEE, a “better-for-you” iced coffee backed by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The ready-to-drink beverage product adds B vitamins, electrolytes, branched-chain amino acids (BCAA’s) and natural sweeteners to coffee. Mahomes is not new to the beverage space. In December he joined with Logan Paul and KSI to endorse buzzy RTD energy beverage company PRIME.

Hollywood actress Kristen Bell joins Michelle Obama’s PLEZi Nutrition as investor and brand partner

PLEZi Nutrition, a Public Benefit Company co-founded by former first lady Michelle Obama that aims to improve food and beverage products for kids, has entered in a partnership with actress and advocate Kristen Bell. As a brand partner and investor, Bell will use the platform to promote healthy habits for families. PLEZi Nutrition’s products reject added sugar, a strategy that the company hopes will help adjust kids’ palates to less sweet products. The company’s latest offering, PLEZi FiZZ, is a carbonated fruit drink with 70% less sugar than leading soft drinks. The company invests 10% of its profits into kids’ health.

Finnish mycoprotein startup Enifer lands $26 million to build factory for scaling-up production

A parade of investments into Finnish food tech company Enifer will allow the company to build a new mycoprotein factory in Kirkkonummi, Finland, by the end of 2025. The latest awards include a $16.3 million Series B round led by Taaleri Bioindustry Fund 1, which also included participation from investors Nordic Foodtech VC, Voime Ventures and Valio. Prior to this infusion of capital, Enifer received a $7.6 million loan from the Finnish Climate Fund and a $2.18 million loan from state-owned financer Finnvera. Additional investments in 2024 add up to $39.2 million in capital for the company, which turns food industry side streams into fungi protein.

Peruvian plant-based startup Peruvian Veef lands $320,000 in funding

In an initial funding round led by Ahimsa Foundation and Sustainable Food Ventures, Peruvian Veef raised $320,000 to scale its production of locally made plant-based alternatives to animal proteins. The company, which to date produces 11 products inspired by Latin American cuisines, is available in more than 70 stores in Peru. It aims to be more widely available across Latin America.

Lyris receives $16 million in funding to help farmers navigate climate change

Agtech company Lyris, based in Riadh, Abu Dhabi and Delaware, announced a $16 million Series A funding round that will help the company scale its solution for growing food in difficult climates. Ecosystem Integrity Fund (EIF) led the round, which also included Global Ventures, Dubai Future District Fund, Kanoo Ventures, Globivest and Bonaventure Capital. The capital will allow Lyris to continue scaling its nimble technologies aimed at farmers in need of low-tech and medium-tech solutions, rather than expensive technologies geared more toward multinational agribusiness.
