Risa Schulman PhD, is the founder of Tap~Root, a science, regulatory and strategy consultancy that works with prominent and pioneering food and dietary supplement companies, ingredient suppliers, and companies shifting into these spaces, including biotech and pharma. A 20-year industry veteran, Risa worked on the leadership teams of industry icons such as POM Wonderful, Mars Botanical (a division of M&M Mars) and Solgar Vitamins (1 patent awarded), where she played a key role in the launch of breakthrough categories and products.
Risa is also a seasoned writer, having written numerous technical and opinion pieces for in NBJ, New Hope IdeaXchange, Natural Product Insider, R&D Insights, Nutririon Industry Executive and others. Speaking engagements have included Supply Side West, Nutracon, NEXT Innovation Summit, Engredea, American Dietetic Association and the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine among others. She has been privileged to serve on several Science Advisory Boards. Dr. Schulman holds a PhD in Plant Biology from Rutgers University, a Masters of Environmental Science from Yale University and a Bachelors of Science from Tufts University.
