The NCN database of nutrition and health & wellness deals indicated a 10% increase in transactions in 2011 to a total of 222. Transactions are logged in six segments and include activities of U.S.-based consumer-facing companies and global ingredient & supply companies. The number of private financings in nutrition and health & wellness have been remarkably consistent at 60, 61 and 60 over the past three years, although the average size of the total investment increased from $8 million in 2010 to $11 million in 2011.
